RobotLegs AS3 Framework with Sean Moore (@seantheflexguy) at Vaco Technology

June 8, 2010 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
date is subject to changePresintation info:RobotLegs is an IoC framework that’s been rising on the Flex framework scene. It’s a pure AS3 microarchitecture so it can be used in non-Flex projects as well. One thing that I like about the framework is that it does a pretty good job of telling you what’s wrong when you’re building your app. For example it’ll let you know if you’ve missed adding a class to the context. In this presentation I’ll show you how to set up a Flex app from the ground up…See More

A couple of things. 1) This is a beta SDK. The language could potentially change prior to release. 2) Adobe is already supporting, or planning to support, the Android platform. They'll be releasing Flash player 10.1, and Adobe AIR, for the…

No iPhone for Flash CS5... a moment of silence.

I was sad to learn today that Apple has restructured their iPhone developer agreement system.http://daringfireball.net/2010/04/iphone_agreement_bans_flash_compiler Apple really gave Adobe a shiner this time. To wait this long before saying something... so close before CS5 is released.. I feel bad for Adobe, because I now have no significant reason to buy this. I guess it's better to announce it now than after…See More

About Scott's Caringorm presentation - source code?

I was thinking about Scott's use of interfaces in the demo, and I have a kind of half-formed question about it. I don't have details from the demo in order to get it formulated, but here goes... In vague terms - I'm wondering if there's a way to put all the interface classes into a package that would be available to other applications. My impression was that there was a one-to-one correspondence between the interface and the concrete class. The app was created for demo purposes, so this… Continue

Recently I had to discover the power of SharedObject myself in a chat applications that I am building in Flex. Read More ....

I first came to learn about Flex on a message board for a MUD game I used to play. My initial intent was to learn coding so that I could create games for the iPhone and make some extra moola. As I came to learn, Flex really doesn't have anything to do with that. But, I was naive and eager to learn whatever I could. Upon recommendation, I bought Adobe Flex 3.0 for Dummies by Doug McCune and Essential Actionscript 3.0. "That's all you'll need," said one dude. So began my odyssey.
